Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Mahatari Vandana Yojana in Chhattisgarh. This scheme provides financial assistance of Rs 1,000 per month to eligible married women in the state.
Benefits-
Widows, divorced, and deserted women are also included. The scheme aims to empower women economically, improve their financial security, and strengthen their role in families.
Around 70 lakh women are expected to benefit. The first installment of Rs 655 crore has already been disbursed.
The Prime Minister highlighted other government initiatives for women’s welfare, including providing pucca houses, Ujjwala gas cylinders, Jan Dhan accounts, Mudra loans, and support for self-help groups.
He announced additional measures to improve maternal health, including free vaccinations and financial assistance for pregnant women. Free healthcare services were also announced for frontline workers like Asha and Anganwadi workers.
The Prime Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to fulfilling promises, mentioning successful implementation of the scheme and ongoing efforts to provide 18 lakh pucca houses.
He reassured farmers of timely payment of bonuses and continued support, highlighting the record procurement of rice at the minimum support price.
The Prime Minister concluded by expressing confidence in collective efforts for inclusive development. He promised continued dedication from the government for progress in Chhattisgarh.
