Educational Qualification:
The minimum educational qualification for the UPSC CSE is a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university in India or an equivalent qualification.
Candidates in their final year of their bachelor’s degree program can appear for the preliminary exam. However, they must produce proof of passing the degree before appearing for the main exam.
Combine Age Limit and Relaxation:
The minimum age limit for the UPSC CSE is 21 years, and the maximum age limit is 32 years as of August 1st of the exam year. Relaxation in the upper age limit is available for SC/ST (up to 5 years), OBC (up to 3 years), Ex-Defense personnel, and candidates with disabilities (as per UPSC guidelines).
Age & Number of Attempts:
General Category & EWS: 32 years; 6 attempts.
OBC (with certificate): 32 years + 3 years; 9 attempts.
SC/ST: 32 years + 5 years; unlimited attempts.
Physically Disabled: 32 years + 10 years; Gen/OBC/Person with Benchmark Disability (EWS category)- 9 attempts & SC/ST unlimited attempts.
Jammu & Kashmir Domicile: 32 years + 5 years + (3 years, if OBC OR 5 Years, if SC/ST); Number of attempts depends on the reserved category.
Disabled and discharged Defence service personnel: 32 years + 3 years + (3 years, if Gen/OBC OR 5 years, if SC/ST)
Ex-Servicemen Commission Officer: 32 years + 5 years + (3 years, if OBC OR 5 Years, if SC/ST)
Physical Standards:
For certain services like IPS, candidates must meet specific physical standards besides the written exam and interview.
Medical Examination:
After the interview stage, candidates who are recommended for appointment undergo a medical examination to ensure they are medically fit for the service.
